Don't let little kids play with walkie talkies

I remember when I was young and got walkie talkies. Two friends of mine(brothers) got walkie talkies so convinced my parents to get me as well. You obviously had to buy them in pairs so I had a spare. The area I lived in was completely different to yours in that it was quite dangerous.

We had a giant overgrown field literally across the road from us and we used to play there all the time and with the walkie talkies you can imagine how much fun we had. At some point I dropped one of my walkie talkies and couldn't find it but didn't really care since I had a spare.

A couple of days later some guy started speaking to us through them and kept speaking to us in a really weird way like saying how good we looked in our clothes and how nice our hair looked. It freaked us out until we recognized the voice. It was a local homeless drunk who we gathered must have thought it was a phone, clearly thought we were girls and wanted to hook up.

Can't remember what we used to call him. Something like Earl or Ernie or something but he was well known in the area and we had caused a bit of kak with him before so one night we went and raided his sleeping area in the field and took my walkie talkie back.

Not anything as scary as yours but your story brought up a long lost memory.
