At the lower end of the consumer price range are walkie talkies for kids. In general, these devices do not have a tremendous reach, and typically have fewer available channels than adult models. Walkie talkies are popular as children's devices and toys due to their affordability and widespread availability.
Walkie Talkies as Toys
Some of the walkie talkies designed specifically for kids fall into the toy category. Usually geared toward younger users, they have a significantly smaller geographic reach and fewer available channels. Familiar brands such as Disney, LEGO, and Nickelodeon provide character or themed brands, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Dora the Explorer, and Hello Kitty. The communication range and sound quality may be greatly reduced with these brands; however, these are generally not as important for young children's uses.
Walkie talkies specifically for kids are also made with smaller hands in mind; they are easily gripped and fit comfortably in a child's palm.
